I just got a very lovely American Vintage Strat, and thrilled at how beautiful it is and how great it plays. It has clay dots which seem fine on the face of the fretboard, but the dots on the side of the fretboard blend in with the rosewood, so I can't see them in darker light. Is there anything I can apply over them that's more visible and will not disturb the finish, i.e be reversible. Thanks everyone.

    Congratulations on the new strat!

Maybe some acid-free white/neon sticker dots or small stripes of painter's tape?

Little shiny dot stickers are the easiest and easily reversible.

They sell fake inlay decals, I'm sure you could pick up some side dots from those same companies.

The CS Danny Gatton Tele has cubic zirconium side dots. They sparkle under overhead lights on an otherwise dark stage.

Thanks for the head’s up. This looks like a good solution. I’ve installed Luminlay side markers on several guitars, but this looks much easier. Also, I’m having this problem with my ‘61 Strat and I don’t want to drill out the old side dots and install Luminlays for obvious reasons.

You can always use the force, especially when doing big position jumps.
    It works surprisingly often.

What are and where did you get these? Did you install yourself?

Nope. Wouldn’t do that to my own gear, but I just googled light up fret markers.
