OK, now that our band has a set list built, a few gigs under our belt (bars, indoor, outdoor, etc.) we are working on the "show", sound system is working well, smooth transitions between songs, etc, and now it time to add some lighting.

Looking for any ideas, cheap hacks, solutions to putting up some lights that will pretty much operate themselves. Definitely in favor of LEDS. I did buy one multi-led thing already (Orion Hypnoray II), but I'm thinking of adding some PAr64 LED cans should be next.

Any ideas? Not looking to break the bank, just add some color and drama to the live show!

You need to speak with a lighting designer. Not a light tech, a designer. They are the one's who know the equipment, technology, and use of it all to be as effective as is possible given the restraints of the venues, performers, budget...
This isn't something that one gets a friend of a friend to do, unless of course one doesn't care if it all turns out looking amateurish, haphazard and basically lame.

Be prepared to spend some money; designers expect to be paid.
