The fun thing about altering Strats is they're hardly an endangered species.

The picture with the strat was just to show the two different color guitars I would have. As it turns out I sold the Epiphone so there will be no spray painting on the premises anytime soon. Actually I’ll probably take the paint back to the store and get my eight dollars back LOL.

That green looks like it belongs on a pool or poker table.

sand it to natural, then dye it.

Probably for the best. You might take a shine to the Epiphone Muse in Radio Blue Metallic. Also available in Wanderlust Green Metallic, Purple Passion Metallic, Smoked Almond Metallic, Pearl White Metallic, Jet Black Metallic, and Scarlet Red Metallic. As well as getting a factory-fresh finish, you get a guitar that won't shed a load of value due to the home spray job. :sneaky:

These guitars should be given as gifts, along with guitar picks when you buy an actual guitar. So anything you do to that guitar is justified...i would strip it down,do a fabric finish to make it at least somewhat...decent looking and then give it to some kid that needs a guitar to play and has none.

Well, anything I’ve ever tried to spray paint looks like sh#t so I’ll leave my Les Paul as is.

Probably for the best that you sold it. If you want a refinish to turn out and not look like crap it's a bit more work than you think. Spray paint won't adhere well to the clear coat, so you would have had to sand it down first. And even then, if you want the new color to last you would have to do multiple rounds of new clear coat over it, wet sanding in between with increasingly finer grades of sanding pads. I clear-coated a hand-made guitar once and it took me like 2 weeks to get the build-up just right. Looks awesome, but it was a lot of work.

    Really?

Hence this thread. I know what it takes to get a great looking finish and I'm not willing to put that much work into it.

if glitter green makes you happy go for it, but for my collection I'd keep the tobacco sunburst intact.
