I'm 65 and have a bunch of amps. 73 100w Marshall ptp full stack/1971Champ/1973 VChamp/1989Mesa 50cal+/Beltone 2x12 head/cab from the 60s, the lowly Greta which I love and all of the ss room filler/digital stuff. Should new and innovative matter to me?

    No.

there’s basically two reasons people go new gear hunting.

    1) that sound they hear in their head is just not quite there yet…gotta keep searching…so close…

    2) bored, and need new worlds to conquer

Either reason is perfectly legitimate. But if neither applies, then you’re good.

Sure, but only if it solves a problem for you. If your current setup does exactly everything you'd ever want there's no reason to look at anything else.

    Save ya money.

All I could possibly ask is a good modeler that I would back up with high end audio gear.

What do you want it to do that your current stuff doesn't?

I satisfy my lust for new guitars by building them. It takes way longer then running out. I just really like the wood working. Someday I will have too many and will have to send some off to unsuspecting people.

The question I have is what do I do when I'm too old to use it? I'll just end up giving it away to deserving young people I suppose.

I never cared much about new and innovative in the first place. What I cared about was, and is, does it do what I want it to? If it does, I don’t care if it’s totally obsolete.

I don't think you're missing out on anything unless of course there something in particular that you think might suit what YOU do.

    No.

But I hate the 21st Century.

I can’t think of a single amp in existence that I’d want to own that was designed after 1968.

Fender tried to force those stupid "Personality Card" things on us a few years back.... bleh. And Gibson's awful Robo-tuners were equally misguided and unnecessary gimmicky marketing suckage.

    So no. F that crap.
