Doesn’t Charlotte Caffey from The Go-Gos play a Fender Stratocaster?

I know she has used a lot of Fender guitars, namely the Fender Telecaster and Fender Jazzmaster Electric Guitars. I remember reading somewhere that the song We Got The Beat was composed on a Fender Jazzmaster. But there is something that makes me think she used a Fender Stratocaster. I posted about Jane Wiedlin Of The Go-Gos playing a gold Fender Stratocaster in the video for Blue KISS. And Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles playing a Fender Stratocaster.

She also played a Roland Polyphonic Guitar Synthesizer. I believe that Andy Summers Of The Police gave her that guitar when The Go-Gos toured with the Police In 1981. But if anybody has any clips or pictures of Charlotte Caffey playing a Fender Stratocaster, I would like to see them. She has also played a Fender Precision Bass and a Rickenbacker 4001 bass. If I remember correctly, played through a few Marshall amps and Fender Bassman Amps. She also was the keyboardist for the Go-Gos as well, which must have been incredibly difficult. There are some clips of her playing a Yamaha CP80 Electric grand piano and a Yamaha motif keyboard. She kind of looks like Nancy Wilson Of Heart.

Among other things, Charlotte Caffey also played keyboards on the song Foolish Games by Jewel, and has worked with Hole, Belinda Carlisle, Andy Summers, Keith Urban, Elton John and Susanna Hoffs. Wrote a few songs for the Bangles. And she also worked with Jane Wiedlin and Susanna Hoffs on the soundtrack of the movie Now and Then. I used to actually have that movie on VHS but had no clue that was her. Oddly enough, when Charlotte Caffey became pregnant with her daughter Astrid McDonald In 1995, Bangles guitarist Vicki Peterson filled in for her. But in my opinion, The Bangles were way better than the Go-Gos. She had carpal tunnel syndrome for many years and kind of retired due to it.

Do you think Charlotte Caffey is the type of guitarist who would play a Fender Stratocaster? Please let me know.

Sure. But I always saw her play a Tele.

There were other guitarists on Beauty and The Beat. And Kathy play a lot of guitar too.

She's a primarily a guitar player who also plays bass. She played guitar in her pre- and post-Go-Gos bands; she had only played bass a bit before joining the band; per wikipedia she learned their bass parts in only a few days when asked to be a substitute bass player for them - but she became a permanent member on bass. And from what I've read she did play some guitar on their albums, but only played bass on stage.

While she's from Austin she and her family spent some time in the UK; at one point she won the audition for guitar spot for the band Girlschool but had to drop out; she later formed a post-Go-Gos band with her friend (and replacement in Girlschool) the late Kelly Johnson with both of them on guitar.

AND don’t forget about The Go-Gos guitarist Paula Jean Brown. Although she never recorded anything with the group, she was a replacement guitarist for Jane Wiedlin when she first quit in 1985.

Not sure if Paula Jean Brown ever played a Fender Stratocaster, but she did play bass and also co-wrote Belinda Carlisle solo hit Mad About You. For some reason that song reminded me of Juice Newton.

You weren't alive then . I knew all of them. I didn't read it on the internet. ;)

Kathy was in the Textones with Carla. She's a great guitarist. That's where she wrote Vacation. IMO the best song in the Gogo catalog.

The other guitarists on Beauty and The Beat weren't girls. They were dudes. Session dudes. One of them also played with Lou Reed and Peter Gabriel. And you won't find that info on Wikipedia. You had to have been there.

I shared it right here...where I wanted to share it. :)

Anyone can register and edit Wiki. That's why it's unreliable.

    Fair enough.

As for Wiki, it's been shown to be as accurate as the old-school brand of encyclopedias... and far more up-to-date.

A Wiki page was started by someone about my Dad's career. He posted stuff in error. I corrected it. He edited my corrections.
Allowing end users to create and edit diminishes the source. It's entertaining but hardly reputable.
