Two months ago I decided to stop following or reading any news as I realized that it doesn't do anything but aggravate me and ruin my day. Since then I have picked up photography and I play more music and enjoy life with the family.

So I miss most of the news that go about these days and I don't mind it. Sometimes when it's something cooky enough it reaches me through friends and relatives.

Lo and behold, the entire day today there had been a huge hostage negotiation going on as two inmates had with razorblades managed to take control and take a couple of guards as hostages. It's still ongoing as I'm writing this.

What do they want? First off, 20 pizzas and a helicopter.

Reminds a lot of Dog Day Afternoon, and if I remember correctly that didn't end well. I don't even know if I care enough to follow this til the end.

    Anyhow, here's the goody

In an interview with the pizza parlor the owner said that he first thought it was a prank, no one had ever ordered that many pizzas from them before haha

I made that same decision over a year ago, on the basis that it anyone really needs me to know something, they will make sure that I do. This will sadly involve them looking for money from me. So it I don't owe you money - I don't want to know.

Wisest decision anyone could make. It's a load off the shoulders.

Puts a new spin on "no news is good news." I self sensor from "news" as well.

I wonder if it is exceptionally good pizza?

I wouldn't bet on it, but for someone who's doing 19 years for murder even a frozen pizza is probably delicious.

Yep. Me too. Not sure what the time frame was, but I'm not interested in being fed someone's agenda.

BTW, that looks like Mark Agnesi loading up that pizza.

I watched Dog Day Afternoon when I was pretty young and then again as a teenager and I wondered what was going on when Sonny (Al Pacino) was out in the street shouting "Attica! Attica!" I looked it up and learned about the prison riots at Attica Prison and studied up on it and wrote an essay on the subject for one of my high school classes

None if it is news. All of it is noise.

I can't remember who said it but it went something like this, "If you don't watch the news you're uninformed, but if you do watch the news then you're misinformed."

Couldn't have summed it up better I think.

Use the keypad for the numbers and hold down the ALT key as you type them.

    ALT 0196 = Ä

    ALT 0228 = ä

Same for me, at the time I watch it for the first time I was unaware of what he was referring to. I think the riots were happening while they were shooting that movie and the director told him to mention Attica somewhere and Al just improvised that scene pretty much.

When I was about 35 I decided that I could proceed in one of two ways. #1 was to be involved in politics, devote a good part of my life to it, campaign for people I believed would be good for the local governments, the nation and world, donate to their causes, etc.. #2 was to move out into the country and avoid getting wrapped up in politics, avoid most discussions of politics, and generally pay attention to other things that are important to me. After all, if I'm not going to actually do meaningful political work, there is no point for me to fret, preach, or otherwise take it overly seriously.

I chose #2, but have a lot of respect for people who choose #1. 28 years later I'm still sticking with #2. I have a friend who is constantly on Facebook spouting his political beliefs, and posting articles and propaganda. I really don't know what he thinks he is accomplishing.
