Have been pondering my wife’s dream holiday for sometime. Her brother had been seriously ill, a matter of when we lost him not if, and he succumbed to cancer last night.

I picked up the ‘phone this morning and put down a deposit on the holiday, including upgrading the flights, which almost doubled the overall cost.

It’ll make a dent in my pension pot but I figured WTF? Can’t take it with you so enjoy life. Brother in law was about ten years older than me. Made me think................

Sorry for your loss, glad you decided to do the holiday. I have had both kinds of things the last few years and they are for sure reminders to go out and live to the fullest.

Commiserations mate, my brother-in-law died on Christmas Day. You have to do it while you can, tomorrow isn't guaranteed to arrive.

Sorry about your loss. My wife and I are super spontaneous people and don't ever let an opportunity go by to do something. Good for you, enjoy when the time comes.

Had bladder cancer three years ago. Due in hospital tomorrow to biopsy a lump on my neck which is hopefully just a lymph node trying to fight this inner ear infection I seem to have. I’m 46.

so I totally get where you’re at!

Yep there's a lot of it about my sisters just been diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer however she's 72 and the cancer grows slower when you older, so hopefully she has a bit longer.
The other saving grace is that she's had a charmed life and been able to afford anything she wanted to do so a lot better off than a lot of people.
Think we have to be grateful for the good bit's.

    Sorry for your loss.
I totally agree that life needs to be lived Now. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

I struggle with this "way of living" myself. I think to myself.... "when I'm completely healthy... I'll do xyz "
Or..... "when everything is financially ready, I'll do ...xyz..."

I have this mental roadblock that says "don't do anything until conditions are perfect".
We all know that in life, conditions are never going to be perfect.
If you wait until they are, you'll waste your life away, waiting.

I agree. Life is too short. So I have been able to make some small dreams come true for myself now.
