Middle age white guys always cry that "It's all black guys on the Grammys" or "They don't play any music I've even heard of", "I haven't bought any new recordings in 2 decades", "I don't watch award shows, it might introduce me to new ideas!"

Remember, the Grammy's are to celebrate artists that had a release in 2018, not artists from back in the 70s.

The Grammys are voted on by 12,000 members of the music industry. Members are asked to only vote on genres they are familiar with.

So let's get you guys educated on who the Rock nominees are, so you don't sound foolish at work on Monday:

Arctic Monkeys - Four Out Of Five

    -

Chris Cornell - When Bad Does Good

    -

FEVER 333 - MADE AN AMERICA

    -

Greta Van Fleet - Highway Tune

    -

    Halestorm - Uncomfortable

Not being lame, although I am white, I am a guy, and I do limp... nice sweeping generalization there BTW...I just don't care about award shows, and I never have.

Artic Monkey sounds like and old Bowie song. GVF is a total Zep rip off. Didn’t even know Cornell was still alive. Not sure what that Fever 333 is. Halestorm is pretty bad-ass...but too hard core to win anything.

Why has it got to be about race?

I'm an 'old' white guy, and I have never once lamented anything because it 'was all black'. I don't know anyone else who has ever done it, either!

If the Grammys are about celibate artists, it's going to be an empty house, too.

And as an old white guy, I shouldn't have the opinion that GVF blows, but I do.

Good description, The AM sounds just like Bowie (not as good), Cornell was a monster! GVF is just not even listenable, Fever 333 reminds me of a soft 311, That Halestrom tune is a winner.

I'll be at a band practice during..."THE" grammys? So a chosen group of folks award artists they like, as observed by those who like them. I'm all for them and their enjoyment of the music. I would record it and watch it later just to participate and be communal, but I know 90% will be about non-music opinion that will convict me for my DNA, where I live, and my chosen pursuit of happiness.

Strictly by definition, I am a lame old white guy. What does that have to do with my taste in music?

I tried that out here, but, "get off my decomposed granite lawn substitute" just doesn't flow...I'll keep trying.

It's cool some folks like them, but I have no interest in the Grammys, or the Oscars, or [fill in the award show]; industrial self promotion, which are basically ads for bands, laced with other advertising. Na ga da!
