I bet ya the grammy's work exactly like the Oscars. You win by lobbying and pouring money into the pockets of the organizers, and the voting is actually just a sham to make the general public believe it actually matters.

My brother was considered for a Grammy a couple of years ago. He had to go in for interviews with a “bunch of guys in suits” as he says. Couldn’t go into a lot of details, but he said it was like something out of a movie. LA high-rise office building, huge board room with a long table, lots of lawyer looking dudes asking questions. He didn’t get a nomination, but the album just went Platimum.

Nope, 12,000 "average joe" members vote.

It's not a committee like the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

Ah, it’s fun as long as you don’t take it too seriously. I’ll watch.

Some girl I thought was gonna be a pop star type came out with a clear strat and actually played it.. She did some tasteful call and response with some backup singers and even some tapping. :thumb: Pretty good performance. RHCP were a disappointment.

Check out Bishop Briggs “River”. That’s the one that just went platinum. He’s the producer, song writer and guitarist for that album. Also check out Dorothy’s album Rock is Dead. He was the producer, writer and guitarist for her also. Dorothy is bad-ass, but she went her own way and started going more folksy. Her new album is pretty lame.

My friend, the one I bought the 64 from, was up for one of these. His band performed at that year's show...

he and I (he was the lyricist and not a performer) sat in our assigned seats and made strange animal noises at those around us until we were asked to leave. we didn't...didn't shut up either.
i moo'd in protest. He quacked like a duck.

    They didn't get one.

for the record...the BMI awards are much more enlightened. They don't give a best of anything. They recognize who did good by making BMI lots of money.

Read back what you typed there. Does it sound at all arrogant to you?

No I didn't think it would - to you. It does to many of us though.

Still, it's nice that someone has appointed you as an expert on this. Was it one of the mods, perhaps?
