… and there's no telling what kind of strings will be on it when it comes back, lol!

Dude asked me if it had 10s on it. I told him it was a hybrid gauge (Ernie Ball) of 9-46. He says, "Oh, like a skinny top, heavy bottom?" Well, yeah, sort of … but what EB calls "skinny top, heavy bottom" is 10-52.

We'll see in a few days if I'm going up a gauge, lol!!!

(Actually, I'm sure the luthier this shop uses will call me to double check what I asked to have done, so it ain't really a thing, but I thought it was funny.)

So techs are supposed to have every gauge memorized?

Lol, almost as soon as I posted this thread, dude called me. All is well. :D I'll stick with the 9-46s for now … but if the fretwork comes out like I'm hoping (and I can shave the action a little lower than before), I may try the 10-48 set that EB just came out with (which this shop doesn't carry). I'm digging those on my other guitars atm. :thumb:

I would have brought our bought a set to have installed when the level was done so the was no confusion at all.

Just had a level/crown done on my 00 Am Series a week ago. Easiest way was to take a set of strings in with it so they would be what I wanted. Plays like a new guitar now, so look forward to that when you get yours back!

If the tune up shop is open on the weekends, I wouldn't give it a second thought but if they're a mon-fri ordeal, I'd drop it off on a Tuesday to be sure everyone is awake and up to speed.

Everyone who's saying drop off a pack of strings when you drop off the guitar ~ yes, of course. I didn't in this instance because I was thinking about trying the new EB 10-48 set. When I called, I confirmed that the shop carried EB strings, but I failed to ask whether they had that particular gauge in stock. And when I got there and found out they didn't, I looked on the rack and they were out of the hybrid 9-46s, too. :(

Either way, I'm glad dude called and we got straight. :)

    Friday work is the worst.

Monday work is the 2nd worse.

Tuesday really is probably the best day to take your car, your gun or your guitar in for service.
