Living in SoCal my whole life I always used these because everyone uses them here.

I always thought they were decent but slightly cheap strings because of the low price.

I love them and still use them and go between sets of EB and Gibson Strings.

But hearing Andertons do a comparison between a modded Squier and an MIM they considered EB strings on the Squier as an upgrade and higher quality than standard Daddario or Fenders that come stock.

While I prefer EB strings to Daddario or Fender I dont believe they are higher quality.

Gibson strings I feel are a bit nicer.

But EBs have always been a cheap decent set that sounds great for the money. Never considered them high quality though.

So whats the opinion on these....are they considered high quality in Europe or something?

Or on the east coast lol?

    EDIT:

    This is my favriote set.

Classic Rock N Roll Pure Nickle sets 9-42.

Setting price aside.. I've always found that no matter what brand, there are pluses and minuses to each. You just poke around like a mole in the dark till you hit ones that hit as many of your buttons as you can and just go with it. Same thing applies to gauge IMHO.

When I played out 4 or 5 times/week, I bought EB's by the case because they were good quality and affordable. I started having issues with them about 6 years ago when high E strings started unwinding at the ball. EB was always quite good about replacing the bad ones, but when I pulled three bad ones in a row and had to use my second guitar at a gig, I was approached by a guy from D'Addario who gave me two sets of NYXLs, yeah, just like a dope dealer, but they are that good. A couple of bucks more, but they feel better, last longer and sound great.

I had breakage issues with D'Addario in the late 70s and early 80s.
Stuck with EB until I tried Kaman stainless, and later, Dean Markley Blue Steels. Played the Blue Steels through the 90s, but would never use stainless on the pasta that Fender calls "fretwire", so I'm back to EBs.

I normally use D'Addario on my electrics and Ernie Ball on acoustics. I have occasionally used Ernie Ball electric strings and have had no issues with them.

i bought countless 10 packs of d'addario 9's for umpteen years.

when i switched to 8's i stayed with d'addario until i saw a 3 pack special of ernie ball's for less than the d'addario's. i have been using the eb extra slinky 8 - 38 set ever since, i like them and have not had any issues.

Im not here to say EBs are good quality or bad qualiry or these are better tham others etc etc.

I have tried countless sets from GHS to Daddario to John Pearaon.

    They are all great quality.

IMO growing up with EBs my whole life I guese I consider them cheap but good sounding. They arent anything special but they hit the spot for me.

Its just my preference and I like the way they sound and feel.

Currently have all Gibson Vintage Reisuues on all the strats but on this next restring plan on getting these EBs again, the Classic Rock N Roll set.

Part of it is the name too.....lol but when ever I put them on any guitar they just come to life. I use tens on Les Pauls and 9s on strats.

Ive been using these since I was 13.

I need that Classic Rock N Roll sound lmao.

I used daddario for a while, for some reason I can't remember, i switched to EBs .
I have been using them for decades. I don't have any issues with them at all, and they seem to last a reasonable amount of time.

I tried fender bullets, and I wanted to like them, but the high E strings would break frequently (i almost never break strings).

I am not sure i would know the difference in a blind test. In fact, I'm pretty sure i wouldn't.

    EB are perfectly good.

GH$ Boomers are longer lasting and livelier.

EB strings, to me, are sort of the SBC 350...they're everywhere, some like them some don't. Trying a different brand may be the cheapest tone mod out there, buy a few sets and try each out for a bit. Personally...EBs are fine, but not my favorite.
