Remember easy songs where you can hear each instrument, and learn the song quickly?

    For beginners:

    What other basic, easy songs?

If you know how to harmonize the major scale...they're all easy. ;)

I'm looking for rank beginner song suggestions-not for myself. For our new fledgling guitarists that bought a guitar this week/ this month and don't want to theorize- quite yet. (I play 5 instruments using sheet music, but stop and study theory is not the idea of this thread.)

    Simple rock songs, anyone?

First song I figured out was Redemption Song by Bob Marley. I figured out the intro in my first week or so playing and the chords within a week. It’s still one of my go to tunes. It moves me big time.

Ah yeah. I haven't played that one in ages. That and wish you were here.

Virtually every Neil young song is also easy.

Probably the easiest song is Craption's cover of Cocaine.

Rhythm phrasing is easy, solo is super easy.

It's instantly recognizable by anyone over 50

    -

Another great first song for a younger audience is The Strokes "Last Nite"

Rhythm is tight but easy, solo is a little more complicated than Cocaine - but much shorter, you wont have much to memorize.

Great upbeat toe tapper for the 30ish crowd

    -

For teens and 20s, The Regrettes "California Friends" is super easy sing along.

Translates to acoustic guitar very well, so you can play it at the cafe and get all the young chicks.

Judas Priest-Grinder or Breaking the Law
    Black Sabbath-Electric Funeral
    Iron Maiden-Prowler

Trying to stick with single note riffs, I'm assuming they can't quite do power chords yet seeing as how new they are to it. Electric Funeral taught me a lot when I was starting out. And Prowler is a bend exercise.

There are a hundred I/vi/IV/V songs.

    Google it.

But...if you learn the progressions...you'll know the songs.

A super easy 2-finger bar chord song for the 20 something's is Kontrust "Dance"

The single pull off riff makes the song sound more exotic than it is.

Put on your lederhosen, this track is a strip bar favorite
