    Marsalis was already a fabled name when the boys were making waves in their 20's. They were models, not being much older than myself when I was playing sax in a jazz band. First Family of Jazz is about right. RIP to the patriarch.

    That is sad. Man, I read he was still gigging even through December last year, which is how it should be..... playing right to the very end! RIP

    I met him once. I used to gig with one of his students. As soon as I said his name Mr. Ellis face light up and he told me to go for a walk with him... Super cool ol’ Dude. The old guard is going down... RIP Mr. Ellis... we not gonna see no mo’ like you
