This video really goes to show how important silence is when playing guitar live on stage in front of a big audience.

The EMG pickups that the guitar player are dead silent until he hits the stroke.

Also this is one of my favourite songs of Phil Collins

    Yes... silence... is golden...
That's one of the huge drawbacks to the old "Stock" single coil... they're noisy things... sure... they sound great WHEN you're playing... but... stop playing and you can have some serious issues with noise...

and forget it if you're rocking a lot of gain.... they will howl and screech... and get you kicked out of small clubs before you can say "it was the pup, yo!"...

EMG makes good pups... but, I like the "N3"'s and "Hot Noiseless" Fender pickups a lot... next Strat I get is going to have one of those sets in it... or I'll go HSH again with a silent middle pup... If I do that I think an N3 would be the perfect middle pup choice with that config...

I used EMG's in several guitars in the 80's. My old Kramer still sports a SSH EMG set... But it hasn't gone to a gig in decades.
