It was as good as it was warm!
A few thoughts;
Holy surf green Strat tone, Steve.
Clapton seemed to enjoy himself more than usual and played really well.
Gary knows a groove when he hears it.
Santana is a lot of fun.
I’m so glad to be sat down!

I prefer Gary Clarke when he plays slide. And what happened to the Casinos? He played 3 P90 fitted SGs most of his set.
Chas & Dave were far too quiet. Could hardly hear them. And having two stages at opposite ends of a big field blasting noise at each other just creates a horrible mess in the middle. Not a smart idea.
Winwood's voice doesn't sound any different to when he was 20, which is very rare in a male singer.
Santana was indeed a lot of fun. Has he dropped PRS in favour of a Les Paul? And Santana playing a Strat for the encore with EC?
Not every day you see that.Clapton must have p****d off the folk who love Cream & Layla. No Cream songs (except Crossroads done in a Cream-free way) & an acoustic Layla, which I much prefer. Nice one Eric.
Little Queen Of Spades was the highlight of the day for me.
Doyle Bramhall is not at all bad.
Lay Down Sally was nice, co-sung with writer Marcy Levy.
Nathan East is beginning to look uncannily like a young Buddy Guy.
Who were the drummer & the Hammond player?
Also glad to be sat down!

I think it's extensive touring he's given up. This was something of a one shot deal not too far from one of several homes.

That's what I was thinking. Also, the Royal Albert Hall is close to that same home, so I'm hoping that maybe he might play the odd gig there now & again. But if he doesn't, he went out with a certain amount of style.

I had no expectations of him and he left me feeling super impressed. I didn’t think I knew any of his songs but it turns out I knew most of them. Great voice and decent guitar chops too. Would happily go to a Steve Winwood headline gig now
He didn’t sit in with Clapton unfortunately. Clapton and Santana played together. I was hoping to see Eric / Steve / Gary / Carlos on stage together but that might have been hoping for too much [emoji51]

Thanks for this - I've been a great fan of his since my (and his!) teens, when he was with the Spencer Davis Group.

Yep, I agree with this.
I was hoping that maybe Buddy Guy might turn up. I do have my moments of being an optimist.

Wow, I kinda envy those of you who went to see Clapton. Saturday July 7 I went to a local music fest where several tribute bands played, one of which was a Clapton tribute. They didn't do too badly, but I would have MUCH preferred to have seen the man himself.

One thing for certain is I can’t wait to get back up north and pick up my guitar
Santana was playing single-cut PRS guitars, with bird inlays....until the relic’ed strat for the encore.
Gary only played the Casino for one song, using slide. The rest of the time he used a new signature SG with 3 P-90s.
Santana rocked hard, with two drummers (one of whom is his wife!) and a percussionist. Eric did indeed seem to enjoy himself. I do love electric Layla but the acoustic one’s great, too (I am actually working on that right now...again...). I liked Crossroads a lot, and, yes, Little Queen of Spades stood out! Even Cocaine had a lovely, high-energy growl to it. The acoustic set in the middle was cool.
My back is killing me and my legs are stiff all the way down to my toes. Thank god days 2 and 3 I had a barrier to sit/lean against (and which on day 2 provided some shade most of the day.... ) Day 1 we didn’t go till late since we watched France beat Uruguay at footie!!
I had a wonderful time but am rather hoping that next year there are only 2 headliners I want to see. 3 days in a row of festival is a bit much for this old lady...
Special shout out to the people signing the concert for the hearing impaired. Who knew you could make a living playing air guitar?

Gary came and hung out to watch Steve Winwood, until he presumably got tired of being asked for selfies...

Me too I was hoping all four would jam together. Is Buddy in town, then? I knew he was touring.Yep, I agree with this.

I'm usually a big fan of signing, it can be hilarious at some comedy gigs, Adam Hills makes his signer a big part of his act. But at a gig like this? Was there really any point? How many people were there who benefited from this? And even if they did, couldn't someone have taken the signer off the screen for the many, many, lengthy instrumental solos? I found it all a little annoying, TBH.
