The Eric Clapton Signature model is one of the most versatile Stratocasters Fender offers.
Here is mine in the classic Clapton color black leaning against a wonderful ´57 Tweed Twin RI.

I like the V neck a lot. A very fine instrument overall.

I've had my '99 EC for about a year now( time sure does fly!) and love it. I don't care so much that it is similar to what EC plays, but as the op mentioned it is just so versatile. Oh, and the soft v neck just feels right.

My new EC "Clarence." The most versatile guitar I have ever owned.

I briefly tried one at the store. Black. Maple neck. The neck was kinda pallid... But it sounded pretty good. Tried it on a Marshall Class 5 head on a cheap cab - don't remember the name. The boost was smooth and I think at full blast it sounded humbuckery.

I have a Powerhouse Strat coming. I tried another one at the store. Its boost doesn't seem as smooth, meaning, the transition from 0 to 10 was low-low-low-HIGH; and was a bit muddy at full blast.

    Cheers

Got my "Blackie" new years day. It's my first strat with vintage frets, so I've got to work a bit harder than I'm used to on bends. The upside of vintage frets is that normally I have an issue of fretting a string a little to hard on larger frets so that the notes go sharp and this has been remedied to a certain extent by the thinner frets. The electronics and pickups on this strat are really impressive. I have 2 strats with fender noiseless pickups (N3's on a 2011 Amer. Deluxe and sumarium cobalt noiseless) both with S1 switches. The aspects of those two other strats that I like most for the majority of playing that I do are combined in the Clapton. The easiest way to describe this is that the 2011 Amer. Deluxe has my favorite pickup settings for Chicago style Blues and the other setup (I believe it was a loaded pickguard from a 2008 Amer. Deluxe) has my favorite strat setting for Texas style Blues and Delta Blues. The Clapton Strat basically Has my two favorite settings from the other strats but has a much broader range for me to experiment with tonal characteristics of the classic blues.

Just bought mine, a few months back. Wouldn't trade it back for anything. Love the midrange boost control. Just need to swap it out with a new neck. Soft c shape with a rosewood finger board with a roller nut then take out the wood blocking the tremolo. Get my buddy to fix up my tremolo real nice. Then... It will be my number 1

Does anyone know if there's a separate owners club here (or anywhere) for the 2006 Fender Custom Shop replica Eric Clapton Blackie Stratocaster?
