Totally get it. I don’t have sweaty hands so I can make strings last a long time, so the price difference is nominal to me.

What did you like about the heavier end?

I can also get the Musicians Gear (Musicians Friend house brand) for $2.29 per set, and they ain't bad. @fezz parka has said in the past that he uses them too.

I don't sweat excessively, but I can destroy a set of strings in one band practice or gig, so I can go through a lot of strings. They last longer when I'm just playing at home. I guess it's something about my body chemistry.

I like the heavier bottom, because (I know this is controversial) I really can tell a difference in the sound.

Yeah, I guess this is why I was asking. For a five spot it’s worth checking out.

    Hi, @Nate D -Buddy

So you'd say the .048 low E would be a bit more vibrato-able if Angus Young phrase/solo licks?

That depends on your technique, finger strength etc. I’m betting you can get there with a TON of different string gauges.

I use EB exclusively... but I'm a wimp. For standard tuning guitars I use 8-38.

I used to use 11’s on my Gibsons but use 10-46’s on everything now. It’s been forever since I stopped using 11’s but I remember (and this may only be in my head) my Gibbys having a big ‘ole bottom end thump. That being said, I can’t hear a guitar player and say they’re using a heavy string while they’re playing. Tons of people do great things on light strings.

Maybe this is a useless discussion, but what better do we have to do?

Sounds just like a sax at the beginning of the solo. He is a wizard.

I must admit that I have been wanting to too for some time.

If I'm honest the only thing that has stopped me picking one up is the very non trad 3 x 3 headstock which is very superficial I know!

Lol! Yeah the nebula flip flop is cool. They all sold on preorder first day. Someone sold their preorder on Reverb for like $6K a week or so ago.
