Technology will take us there unless the flat earth gang brainwash the populous. It will be seen by many as a new way and ability to be exploited for progress but the Vulcan part of my brain says maybe not. I envision a possible regression on Earth, to a more barbaric era. Convicts will no longer go to prison with available rehab therapy but be put on transport ships to "Australius7" a prison planet several light years from home. We can conquer need and hunger at home but not until we mature as a species. The process could cause us to revisit ourselves in a previously accepted society. Soon enough though, we would have to accept and embrace "Australius7" into our fold.:sneaky:

Maybe we humans are the convicts dropped here from another planet.

I think we'll have eliminated ourselves as a species long before the necessary tech is available.

It would be bogus for the rest of the universe; that’s for sure.

While I am a huge fan of SciFi, I'm not so sure that interstellar travel with ever be possible, regardless of the tech. The whole idea of warp speed or jump tech, while it sounds like it could be made to happen, just doesn't sit well with me. Of course, I've been wrong before.

The answer to the question would all depend on who we put on the rocket and shoot off into space. I can think of a few good candidates.

where's the evidence for that statement?

We've so totally f'ed this planet that I truly hope we are never able to colonize another. We don't deserve a new planet until we fix the one we're currently living on...

Australius7? There must be a lot of "bad" people..are Autrailuses 1-6 already full? :D

btw..i think aliens have already seen us, but when they saw how much space junk we had orbiting the planet already, they just said...nah, let's just move on:

It's kind of a moot question. Space travel like in science fiction movies is a no-brainer. But the current situation, like predicting a moon base for the past 50 years, and maybe just maybe eventually getting a human to Mars (a useless rock, pardon the exaggeration) is pointless. I think space travel will be unmanned and done by robots for a long, long time.

Once we're able to upload consciousness, what's the point of sending the meat suit out anyways? Life support is the primary issue with any manned craft. Let the robots do the work and we'll just keep backups of ourselves in various places.

All I know is get me out of here! This planet has become one crappy neighborhood.

I mean, at this point, I’m willing to take my chances on Mars. Venus.

Ceti Alpha Six. Some fully assimilated Borg planet. That weird planet full of Cronenbergs from Rick And Morty. Anyplace!

I don’t care, just get me off this stinking rock!
