I'm used to vintage ones and can't tell if everything's ok with this one.
not sure about your trussrod, but the slots in your nut look way too deep
Its hard to tell from the pics. Looks like its a fender american so use an 1/8 inch allen wrench to test it. Loosen it first just to make sure the rod functions as it should then make adjustments.
True, actually I hadn't noticed that yet, I recently bought it 2nd hand. It plays fine, no buzz at all and the action is perfect for my taste.
Yes, I was planning to do that tomorrow, right now I don't have any tools around. I never paid attention to these type of truss rod untill now and I'm kinda of unsure about the way it looks. Is it structurally normal or there's something missing here?
Looks 100% normal - USA truss rods on Modern style Strats use 1/8" hex key....
It doesn't looked stripped at all, but only by using a tool can you be sure it's not seized or run out of travel, etc....

It looks structurally from the pics. If your looking at the truss rod righty tighty lefty loosey.
Make sure you have the right wrench.
