It's very sad indeed. I really admired that you can HEAR he was having fun recording VH albums, I love his early work, so real and full of life, but I liked "A different kind of truth" as well. a real master...

Dammit. A Stratocaster legend, a true innovator, and a major inspiration...gone too soon. R.I.P. Eddie, there won’t ever be another one like you.

“I used metal picks — they’re brass and copper — which I always held in my mouth, in the exact place where I got the tongue cancer, plus, I basically live in a recording studio that’s filled with electromagnetic energy. So that’s one theory.” ~ EVH

Took me a few minutes to dry my eyes and compose myself - I just posted a couple of funny EVH memes on the "Ebidis is a hack" thread yesterday.

He is the reason I, like so many others, picked up a guitar in the first place. Feels like a gut punch.:(

We have come so far in cancer research - my wife is walking proof of that - but this proves we have so much more to do to eradicate this insidious disease. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - please donate to ANY cancer research if you are able...American Cancer Society, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, St. Judes, or your local oncology departments. Your donations not only go to research, but to help with travel expenses, lodging expenses, and other expenses during treatment. I don't know how we would have made it through without the generosity of others. No amount is too small.

    God Bless.

RIP an absolute great. Always admired his technical genius.
There'll be loads of people saying "don't smoke cigarettes kids!" I'm sure. But he always maintained it was all the p ussy that did him in.

Another hypothesis would be that he simply smoked and drank way too much.

Aw man. I sort of felt this was coming but never really wanted to accept it.

I keep coming back to this thread hoping it's not true.

    Damn....

I cant really say anything different from what others have already said.

He was my childhood and adulthood hero. I saw them 9 times and was hoping to round it out for a 10th time....

This is tough! It's weird how you get a connection or admiration from someone you've never met and how their death can affect you.

    Man...
