Hello there. I'm interested in a strat that I'm not sure is legit. First off the neck is a fake. Horrible orange peel and hacked sticker work. The current owner said it was replaced by a private shop because original owner wanted a Birdseye fretboard. 2nd, the current owner isn't interested in opening it up to check neck pocket for any numbers or proper routing of the body. 3rd, I can't find evidence of this blue stain color existing in Fender in the last 30 years. The original neck is not important to me but a color verification would atleast be a start. I know there isn't a lot to go on but I figured I try. Thanks for any help. 20211009_144530.jpg 20211009_144544.jpg

Fender used that color but only on an ash body.

You can also find that translucent blue finish on some special run Squiers.

Thank you for the info. I was thinking that the original owner just blinged up a cheaper guitar and put the aftermarket neck on to try and hide that.

The MIK Lite Ash Teles and Strats had birdseye maple necks and abalone dots.

It's possible. That neck doesn't quite look like a Fender neck. The contours are just a bit off.
But earlier this year I bought a Squier Affinity made in 2014 that has the translucent blue finish. Rosewood fingerboard and a white pickguard. But definitely that lovely blue. Assuming the seller is honest, that may very well be a Squier body and he just put on a maple neck. And probably a different pickguard and pickups as well.

The lace sensors are def real and well played. I don't mind it being a Squier body or copy neck but they are asking Standard Strat Pricing because that's what they were told when they got it.. I'm losing interest but it's a great blue!

Thank you for the info. My pics don't show it well but the stickers look like they were cut out with a butter knife. Very jagged and obvious edges with a very heavy orange peel in the neck finish.

Headstock looks wonky at that angle and wrong. The twelfth fret markers are too far apart. Fake.

The font on the pickups looks hinky to me. Could be wrong, often am.

Agreed. The dimensions do not look "right".

    On a lighter note, WelcomeFlash.gif to Strat-Talk!

Knobs, switch tip, bridge are not OEM.
The neck is tough to say from the angle of the picture. The body doesn’t look quite right.

Ya, def not worth "Strat" prices.
Best case it's a renecked Squier, but with those inlays, it could be a Squier neck with a forged decal.
Bridge hardware is common Asian import stuff... not US or Mexican Fender.
    Knobs are Allparts.

But the case is worth a few bucks, so there's that.

Haha that's brilliant. Couldn't find a name that wasn't taken an old Elmer ran through my mind. Good catch!

Yep. I made my way there hitching a ride with the keyboard player in the HS era garage band I was in.
