It's hard to ignore the similarity between The Static Shift and Zep. Not that it's bad, I like it.

Dayton, Ohio area band I really dig. It's an old High School friend of mine and his two kids, plus a couple other guys.

They have one CD out and are working on number two...

A young power trio to watch out for! I think they’re going to do ok..
I can’t remember what I was doing at 13/15 or 17 years of age, but it certainly wasn’t anything like this!!

Well they're not that "New" but i just discovered them and I'm kinda digging them.

They sort of remind me of Syd Barret era Floyd

these guys perhaps rely a bit TOO much on the "Led Zeppelin" vibe -- but they are pretty cool, nonetheless!

I'm replying to my own post

So my friend says he hears zero DP influences here. What say you ST people?

    I like it! A LOT!

IMO, you friend needs to listen to more Deep Purple! Not exactly like 'em, but I can ABSOLUTELY hear DP influences / similarities! And I agree- not a bad thing!

I really can't stand listening to the radio in order to find an odd good band every now and again. Mostly I get wind of new bands in threads like these. While there are some decent bands not one has made me a fan. One band I like is the Marcus King Band. I think their drummer, who uses a really small kit, may have taken the "hardest working man in music" title this year, kills. They have a horn section. I like the singers voice and his guitar tone.

Sometimes a band flies under your radar.

    I've heard of Spoon, right?

People say they are great, yes?

Can I name a song? Nope.

I just discovered this a few months ago, great songcraft:
