Fawlty Towers. Iconic. As unlikley to return as Pink Floyd, right? Must be true - Cleese has said so many times over the years. As he said, Shakespeare only gave us 2 1/2 hours of Macbeth but he gave us 6 hours of Basil.

Erm...

Brilliant idea? Or unwise to mess with a legend?

A show where the main character is a man who thinks he knows better than everybody else and is constantly put in his place by those he considers "beneath" him.

Cheaper than therapy, I guess.

Isn't comedy always cheaper than therapy? Unless Ticketmaster sell you the tickets, of course...

I'm still not sure what point you're making?

IDK, but I do know Camilla Cleese would be a great villain name.
Austin Powers vs Camilla Cleese in The Spy who shagged a Potato... Raw.

They even have an evil cat that could co-star in the role of Mr. Bigglesworth...

Would you take the same view if the family hadn't changed their name at some point in the past? Does Camilla Cheese sound like a Bond villain? Or a cartoon character to promote Cheddar?

Hmm?
Problem is, the things that made Fawlty Towers funny are considered "offensive" today. Take them away and what's left?

Led Zeppelin were never the same without Bonzo...

Imagine trying to pitch Little Britain today??

Actually it's not Little Britain that's the problem so much as it's successor, Come Fly With Me. Matt Lucas played my two favorite characters, Jamaican coffee seller Precious & Taaj, where Lucas totally nailed that unusual Pakistani/Bradford accent. I remember watching it & thinking "Oh is it now OK again for white actors to play blackface characters?". But he played these characters with real affection & accurate accents.

Then, a couple of years ago, people who clearly didn't watch it first time round, decided it was racist & it's been taken off streaming services. I wonder about this. Is this the sort of sketch that two white racists would make?

"I prefer English food, ya get me, like pizza or Chinese" 😄
