I thought the Alternate Universe offering last year was mostly hideous. This year's crop is much more interesting. The fretboard inlays on these look great, and check out those gold foil replicas on the Thinline! These are all for pre-order, they're not in stock yet.

EDITl it's actually the Parallel Universe II series

They look terrible, but in a year when Adoramma clears them out at $1100 each, I might like them more.

the strat jazz deluxe is very appealing...

i'm pretty sure i saw Bo Diddley playing the Maverick Dorado in 1965.

Yeah, $2k is about twice what I paid for a custom neck and finished custom walnut body, plus the hardware to put it together.

Agreed. There’s not a good guitar in the Fender range that can’t be buggered up by improving it.

Dont get me wrong, I'm glad they're trying new things but I'm a traditionalist when it comes to guitars. I like some pizazz but this is too much.

Maybe it's just because it's such an improvement over last year that I think they're a win. Except for the Strat, they all seem to have something that 's a "...hmmm, nah." The Tele is the most interesting to me, but that paint job. Hmmm, nah.

Hmm... Well I'll go against the current, albeit partially, and say that I at least appreciate the effort if not the price.
The first Telecaster wasn't bad. The right amount of eccentricity to stand out and be different without being excessive.

Honestly, I was turned off by pretty much everything Fender showcased with the exception of the broadcaster. I am quite happy with the new squier models though. I've got my eyes on the cyclone.

They should just call the Uptown Strat what it is: a Paulocaster. Or is it StratLes? ;)

Wait...what? I haven't seen this yet. Will it have 3 Jaguar pickups and a trem? I'd be all over this if they didn't screw it up somehow.

It doesn't have the jag pickups. They substituted them for strat pickups. Otherwise, it is the same thing. Only comes in 2 colors though. Shell pink and daphne blue. Squier also released a toronado, an offset telecaster and something else that escapes my memory.

    Edit: mini jazzmaster and the supersonic. There are other things too. ERzJyjM.png ooh7Z7N.png OxBSBnGl.jpeg 6mJi3Qml.jpeg dcXJuDjl.jpeg NV8XIbVl.jpeg LwFqjbYl.jpeg DpUziDnl.jpeg cZFzKxul.jpeg y2TkxiHl.jpeg

I think they're all pretty cool. The "black beauty" Tele is awesome and that oddball Maverick is also interesting.

I think Fender's Parallel Universe and Alternate Reality series represents huge risks for a brand known for 50s & 60s designs.

I guess the new Ultra line gets a big yawn from me.
