Hi all, new forum member here and this is my first post.

I bought a used CS American Custom Stratocaster and the serial number lookup does not return anything. I am assuming the serial is 13576, which dos not follow the formats I could find on the internet or forums. The Strat is great by the way, I immediately fell in love with her...

Thanks for the help!

That's ridiculous. Fender establishes rules or standard practices, then throws those rules out of the window for no apparent reason.

Crazy.

At least they should put the serial numbers in the database so that one can look it up. I saw the same model still in stocks at a few online shops (example) and they have the same 5 digit format on the neckplate. Shocked by the new price btw...

No, they should use a standard format of CS serial numbers so they are immediately recognisable. Which is what I thought they had done with R prefixed serial numbers many years ago....

Obviously that was too logical.

It does follow a regular format. Look at other CS Strats. They, too, come with a 4 or 5 digit serial number.

Just like this 2013. It took me less than 60 seconds to find this and many other Strats with the exact same, usual format.

So you're saying they don't use a 4 or 5 digit serial number on Custom Shop Strats anymore?

In my experience with the Fender Serial Number Lookup Site, the following show “No Results”:

Any Custom Shop Strat
Any “FSR” Strat ( like A Wildwood spec guitar, Dave’s Guitar Shop, etc)

I’ve also seen serial numbers, say off of a Strat, come up as a P Bass, etc ( American Vintage Series)

That lookup is not perfect.

I’d email [email protected] , they can look up Custom Shop serials to confirm.

Interesting though, I’ve never seen a Custom Shop serial number without letters before the numbers ( CZ, R, SZ, etc)
