I’ve always wanted a pair of these on my guitar so I went a head and pulled the trigger. First of let me say that these suckers are heavy, which is a plus. I was excited to get them in the mail today but was disappointed at their quality. Have a look a the picks and you can notice how scratched up they are. However, a major concern for me is the “bubbling” looking crap along the edge of the logo. Looks weird or am I hallucinating?

Note that these were bought brand new in fender bag from a very reputable source.

I can't believe those are new tuners. They look crappy, like poor quality replicas.
That is NOT what I would expect new genuine Fender machine heads to look like.

I'd suggest you send those back, it's not supposed to look like that. If it were me I'd spend a little more and get Schaller,, the gold plating on those are amazing.
I'm sure they have different pegs in different shades and color so email them and ask.

100% agree with you. The more I look around on the internet the more I am realizing that these are either second hand or even fakes :(

It depends, actually some people (like me, sadly) have corrosive sweat that can wreak havoc with gold plated tuners, it's not necessarily a question of quality. Not joking either.

But these were sealed (stapled) in a Fender’s bag and sold as new. They hardly look anything close to new and the “bubbling” around the logo seem very suspicious.

Funny you say that. After receiving them and looking at other pictures to compare quality I did come across the original Elite tuners. The detail on those are slightly different. The Fender logo has more detail and the rubber seal is darker in color. Here’s a pic for reference. I personally did not know until today. So the ones I purchased are reissues. Which is what everybody is selling these days.

They also look used to me - did these have the most current Fender tags on the bag? Could they have been sitting in a storeroom for years/decades before you bought them?

How about a photo of the outer packaging? Let's see if these were current or sitting around for years.

Got a link to the original listing? I'd be curious to see what the photos looked like and how they were represented.
