Looks like the Classic Player and Classic Series have been renamed Vintera (vintage era?)
There are some changes to specs notably pickups on the Modified (Classic Player equivalent).

    I can’t remember
I'm fairly certain that I'm in the matrix now and Fender is monitoring my brain. Not that I have the loot now to act on any GAS anyway but every time I have an interest in something they discontinue it.

    American Special
    American Vintage

    and now

    Classic series Lacquer and Roadworns

I guess this is life telling me to be content with what I have.

Yes the lacquer models were the only ones I wanted!

These babies look pretty nice, although it seems the modified are kinda close to the player series.

There's a lot that looks pretty nice there. The modified 50s Strat in Daphne in particular for me.

I guess the lacquer series and road worns were eating in to the American Original sales too much.

Is that a Lake Placid Blue JM with a tort guard? Yes, please. And a sonic blue strat? And a burgundy mist strat? It all looks good from here. Thanks for the link.

Nope. There is not a single guitar in the Vintera line that I want, which means there is no longer any MIM model that I would buy new. There’s some colors I like, but not with those specs.

Revoiced to sound more accurate? (60’s pups description)

Hmm. I’d like to hear comparisons. Would surprise me.

Incidentally, I'm inclined to agree to a certain extent - I'd most likely change the neck on any given one.

Over-priced, but pretty. I love the Vintera 70's Strat's headstock.

The best part of the 50s Classic series was the mellow pickups and soft V neck. Both gone.
