Hi
Just received a brand AV2 last week. And yesterday when I changed the strings I noticed that the body isn't in line with neck in the neckpocket (high e string side)
And when you first have seen it you can't unsee it🙈🙈🙈🙈

But " I hate it"...

Have 3 other US Strats ,and they all are in line .

I have sent pictures to them I bought it from.

I have seen a few strats like that.
Not much you can do about it.
Shouldn't effect playability, the body is not sticking out much further than the neck.

And guitar is brand spanking new

But other than it's a great guitar. Love the looks of 70s Strats

I have to confess it's not the sort of thing that would bug me ... in fact I've just had a little look at all of mine and my '05 ST72 is the same. Never noticed before.

Maybe they're both just a very very realistic reissue right down to reflecting the QC control at Fender in '72/'73?

Seriously though I love my MIJ strat and now I've noticed this ... it really has no impact on me.

With all that said let's see a picture of this new strat please.... pics or we don't believe you really have it!

Hei

Same thing in mine, AV2 '61 Fiesta Red. The neck wasn't straight in line with the body, I loosened the screws and put it in line.
So far I've seen a few others besides mine, but I think the new AV2s are all like this.

The thing with shifting a neck left or right in a neck pocket to correct something that “looks” off may cause playability issues. You could end up with either of the the E strings rolling off the edge of the fretboard which is super common. Especially with a 7.25 radius and vintage string spacing.

When I had mine, the neck wasn't in line, with the high E too close to the edge of the fretboard.
I realized this by seeing that the dots weren't perfectly in the middle of the central strings. So I had to loose the neck and put it in line with the body, but it left that gap that you can see in the OP's 73.
And on the low E side the pocket is not 100% perfect.
I think these AV2 have a sort of too large machining tolerance issue in the neck pockets, and I don't think it's a deliberate thing to replicate even the imperfections of the old ones

You could be right but lots of CS telecasters have the extra large neck pocket just like the originals and it’s deliberate.

Sure you think with modern technology these should be the tightest fit you’d ever see. Still I think a lot of the neck gap crew should take a look at some real vintage stuff. Like I said earlier, if this was deliberate on this one it would be much much worse and possibly loose.

Hmm. Do you have pic's of it?

Some guitarists have the high E string closer in so if they apply vibrato to the string with their fingers, they don't have to worry about the string popping off the fretboard. If it plays well and has proper intonation, I would leave it be. Beautiful guitar btw.
