Have any of you pre-ordered the TM Princeton yet? What is your expected delivery date?

I would really be totally interested in a comparison with the TM Blonde!

Yes, but MusicStore says new ones will arrive in october - so just two weeks to wait. But I'm not sure if 5 Watt is too loud for my bedroom without any master volume. I have a 1 Watt Tube-Amp at the moment (but with a 12" speaker) and at 1.5 of 10 at the volume knob its already too loud on the clean channel...

But I may wait till december and listen to both of the amps - also with a big chance of buying both, if both sound great and I can't decide 😅

Update: Ok, today they told me Vibro Champ will not arrive before Sept 2023 - buying gear in 2022 is like ****.
The VC sounds really sweet on low volumes, but for a certain amount of gain you'll need some boost...

Surprisingly Fender announced a new Tone Master!

Just ordered one today out of curiosity - should arrive on Sept 17 - looking forward to it and will do a review.
Oh god damnit. I don't have the money I'm going to want to drop on one of these.

LMK if you decide you don't want to keep yours and will sell it at a deep discount!

I’ll have to make do for the time being with the PR I’ve already got. It’s a PRII from late ‘82 or early ‘83. All original except for that pilot light. That’s what you get when you replace a blown out bulb with an LED. One less input and no speed and intensity controls. Replaced by three more knobs: Presence, Master Volume, and Mid Control. And three pull knob features: Lead Drive, Bright, and Mid Boost. The original speaker (which I still have) has been replaced with a Celestion G12M-25 Greenback. Amp never had a Stand By switch though.

I have the Deluxe, and Super, and borrowing a Twin TM from a friend.

I love these

This is the first one they are doing with tube bias tremolo, so interested there.

And the fact you can attenuate down to .3 watts means you can overdriven sounds at bedroom volume.
Apart from the obvious weight advantage of the TM twin reverb, I don’t see the point, twins don’t break up, they are designed not to, so either way your going to need a pedal. The tone doesn’t change much with volume on a twin either it just gets louder, so the full fat twin is actually ok to play at lower volumes, because it just stays the same, but quieter. Full fat Twin owner by the way before the chat and outrage comments start flying.

Oh no, no, no. I hate to be negative, but why can't Fender leave well enough alone? What's the point of a ToneMaster Princeton Reverb? The tube reissue isn't heavy, it has a fabulous sound, is available in 10 or 12 inch speaker versions, and is one of the best recording amps on the planet. Fender's profit margin on their ToneMaster, made in China amps is much greater than on their USA Corona-made amps. That is their only motivation. Not for me.

Every video I’ve seen mike says he plays two non Reverb Princeton amps. Of course he mics them and of course the PA is huge, they’re big venues. Jim plays a single Princeton into a small PA in NY clubs all the time no problem.

They're playing vintage 22 watters.
This new TM is 12w and won't sound nearly as great as the vintage models - the tube Princeton re-issues don't.

Mike often uses many different amps.
Can't see any Princetons in this 2010 video :)

Yes I agree but if you only ever play clean and/or only want a good clean pedal platfrom then these TMs are ok imo.
At least they're light, and have variable wattage options, which is much more than any other Fender amps have :)

The major issue imo are their price.
I see this new Princeton TM is RRT $US899 - that's huge for a 12w SS amp imo.

In australia they're even more rediculous at $1400.

I recall the Deluxe Reverb TMs were $US750 when released ($1800 in australia) for a similar amp with double the watts.

Dude Princeton has always been 12-15 watts, 22 is a Deluxe. And there’s is clearly one right beside the tweed Deluxe 😂

Of course Mike has many amps he uses, my buddy at Casino guitars bought Mike’s vintage Magnatone a year or so ago when he opened his Reverb shop. My point is mike and Jim are both famous users of Princeton amps at gigs from small NY jazz clubs to stadiums beyond the size 99% of members here will ever play.

Mike’s rig in 2013, Princeton and tweed Deluxe

Mike’s rig 2020, vintage non Reverb Princeton, tweed Deluxe and an excelsior. All 15 watts or less.

2015 Mike’s Princeton and tweed Deluxe seen in this video for his CS Signature model.

Jim Campilongo plays stock Princeton vintage amps or his orange and white reissue. Both guys of course use PA and do not rely on pure amp volume.

I have been using a 76 Princeton Reverb for about 12 years for gigs and it works fine. Yes we mic for most gigs but I think most bands do these days to get a more balanced sound. Vintage Fender amps are hard to beat for classic rock, blues, country, etc.

Why pay $900 for a TM when a RI is just a bit more$$. You'll have the RI for decades after the TM is Landfill.
Maybe to save weight, xlr output or built in attenuation simulation?

None of those features interest me, so I’ll stick with tubes. For now.

You've got good eyesight spotting a Princeton in the video - I thought that was a Deluxe Reverb :)
Now you guys go right ahead but I wouldn't try to gig with a 12w SS amp.
I'm talking about this 1980s 22w Princeton
