    It starts today!
    Going to see France v. Korea tonight in Paris.

    Allez Les Bleues!

    I’m hoping France and USA will meet in the quarterfinals.

    (I realise in watching and being excited about this event I am probably in a tiny minority here, but I do ask you to refrain from making denigrating remarks about women’s football or women’s sports in general. This is a celebratory thread.
    Thanks!:thumb:)

    Go USA! Go France! :) Both teams are strong and could go all the way, but if I had to bet, I’d put my money on France (ssshh! Don’t tell the Americans I said that!;))

    FIFA Women’s World Cup.. o_O:whistling::)

    No derogatory what's its from me.. :D

    Ok, on a more serious note.. I must add.. that I hope with the ladies.. there's no theatrics (cheating) like there is in the male game. I'm a keen football fan and regularly go to see my team Portsmouth at Fratton Park. I've noticed that as teams get higher in the leagues, the acting, and diving, gets progressively worse. So does the so called 'professional foul'. The modern game at a high level is virtually devoid of what used to be called 'sportsmanship'.. sad.. :thumbd:

    I’m glad you’ll be enjoying it and I hope France win.
    I won’t be watching, I have something else to do that day! :p

    Well, I wish I could say the women didn’t stoop to that.., I think it is marginally cleaner than the men’s, but probably only marginally. And that may not last.

    Do you know what.. I naively thought that maybe their game would be cleaner. That's really sad to hear actually.. :thumbd:

    In Canada our women’s team is actually really popular. Christine Sinclair is like our Messi especially since our men’s team fails to even qualify. Lol

    It does depend on the teams.
    And it isn’t quite as bad... less drama in the diving, for example. We’ll see if they can keep it clean in this World Cup.
    Dirty playing makes me sad, too. Thierry Henry broke my heart with his handball against Ireland all those years ago...
