Ugh, the weather is terrible: chilly, driving rain, wind. Going to take my winter coat to the stadium. Glad I don’t have to play in this weather, at least!:D

Looking forward to it. I think France or England are the top 2 contenders, although I'd obviously like the US to take it all, I just think the defense/goalkeeper situation is too iffy and France has already lit Naeher up this year.

Japan and Sweden shouldn't be underestimated, either.

No, but I dont believe at this point they're legitimate contenders. In 4 years, yeah....not right now. Hearing winds up to 80MPH for the opener!:eek:

But difficult to contain! Can't you just allow a few crass comments to get them out of the system?

I am a huge fan, I have coached both boys and girls soccer for a total of 15 years.
While the boys teams were more like robotic clones, the girls
teams required me to utilize each players talents or strong points that are special
    to that individual player.

Im not rooting for France, but they just got called for an offside that really exposes how stupid the offside rule is. Just had a goal called back because the attackers FOOT was past the next to last defender. Thats it, just her foot. Right call according to the rule, but its a bad rule.

4-0 for France! Woo hoo! Some nice goals.
And the stadium was sold out. Over 45200 people, most of them singing the Marseillaise and chanting. It was great.
    Freezing, but great!

I thought in those close call situations the attacker was supposed to get the benefit of the doubt anyway. I could see it if half her body was past the defender, but not just her foot. Stupidest rule in sports right there, but we're dealing with the same governing body that finds stopping a clock for injury or substitution a menace to the game.

At least in soccer/football they don't constantly stop the game, although it's slowly getting to that point. Trust me, you don't want that. If you do that, you're left with people eating for 4 hrs. and constantly getting up, and nobody watching except for a few seconds after a point was scored.

I too coached (my daughter) girls from U8-U19 (AYSO). We even went to Nationals in 2004 came in 2nd. I coached my son for 3 years and while both were a blast, I ave to admit girls were easier for me to get to work as a team on the field. I found most of the boys strived more towards individual efforts.

    Oh, that's sounds downright nasty.

I know so little about 'football' that I'd probably go away disappointed if I didn't get to sing Fearless with 50 thousand raving maniacs. :sneaky:
