After almost 3 months I was finally able to get my shaggy mop top cut yesterday at our regular salon. I was surprised that the owner nor any of her staff were wearing masks or any other type of ppe and nothing was set up for social distancing whatsoever. I maybe should have turned around and left but getting a haircut was my only focus. Today is our 34th anniversary and with dinner reservations in place this weekend my wife had an appointment for a cut and color this afternoon at the salon but when she asked about the conditions and I told her she is cancelling her appointment. I don't really blame her due to her deteriorated health and immune system but oh man is she upset and I'm feeling really guilty now for going on in. :(

Aren’t they required to wear a mask and other precautions?

Mandatory here as well. Appointment only, barber stations 6 feet or more apart. Masks for barbers and customers. Wash hands before sitting down.

Yep need a haircut too. I'll have a big non-tan line on the back of my neck when I get 'er done.

You would think they would. I mean, you can't cut hair from 6 feet away. Maybe it's a 'statement'.

I'm waiting for Vain Hair Salon to open back up. No one touches my hair but Madison! Gosh I hope she'll be there when they reopen.

Yep you should feel guilty for sure, your wife is making the right decision but you have put both of you at risk even though she is not going there. You should have immediately put them on the defensive by asking "Why no masks and distancing here?" If you were not happy with their answer, then say "I'll be back when there are safer conditions". For just one haircut, I would seek out an establishment that is compliant with safety guidelines.

I took the buzzer to myself last week. I tried to layer it but alas my buzzing skills are piss poor. I'm now a comfy #1 all around. It's taken a bit to get used to but I may keep it. I've been thinning pretty hard the past years so what am I saving anyhow?

I have new respect for barbers' buzzing skills!

Not to put too fine a point on it, if my wife had deteriorated health and immune system, I would be stepping in that place without a mask of my own, if at all. I’m not concerned about the virus for myself. I’m concerned for the other people around me.

I feel sorry for hair cutters. They’ll be forever on the hot seat. I’m curious what it’s going to be like for dentists and oral surgeons? If your barber is going to kill you, your dentist is surely suspect. They’re up close and personal. They maybe wearing a mask but everyone knows that masks aren’t 100% and you’ve got your pie hole open to the world and they’re putting in lots of gadgets in there. Hmmmm. That reminds me, I need to get that will going. :thumbd:

She wasn't upset with me which was a good thing and told me to forget about it.
I couldn't tell you what the latest statewide guidelines are here in MS or the local communities for salons because they seam to change every day but I did have my mask in my lap does that count???:whistling:
She is still fuming about her hair appointment and hasn't cancelled it yet but we did cancel our table reservations and will call in the order to pick up like we've been doing.:thumb:

As well as any medical personnel.

My mom just had cataract surgery 2 days ago, and the precautions the staff took were above and beyond, and It was at a specialized eye hospital, so not a place where the general public goes, and all the patients have to be tested for Covid 19 before any procedure, so I felt like it was pretty safe.

It’s been at least 3 months for me as well. I guess I need to think about a hair cut soon.
