I finally made the decision to get rid of one of the tone knobs and move the volume knob down a step.

I miss having separate tones for neck and bridge (I had it wired like that rather than to the middle pickup) a little, but it’s definitely worth it.

I was so happy flailing around that I even broke the high e-string, something I haven’t done in ages.

Is it still a real strat?

I have done it in the past, but to me it just looks odd...I don't do it anymore and have simply learned to play around the volume knob.

Yes. Anyway different people have different 'strokes'. I hate where the pickups selector switch is on my LP, I keep hitting it. I took the tip off, that helps some. It should be down by the knobs. And personally, I don't need separate volume and tone knobs for both pickups, but there they are. But so be it.

Now all I have to worry about is what to cover that hole with...

I have thought about printing a picture of a volume knob and putting it there!:D

Use the hole to hold a launch tube, to shoot Roman Candles out to the audience...

    No, I wish! :)

It's a partscaster with a Fender Classic Player 50's neck.

Put a bullet hole sticker over it, with a little blood dripping out of it (playing position).

Put an led and a Fender amp jewel in it.

Seriously, Warmoth has pickguards with the "Tom DeLonge" volume knob position option which moves the volume downward towards the switch and away from the bridge if that holds an interest.

It has never occurred to me to do such a thing... until now...

After having about :30 seconds to think about it I guess I’m good with where the volume knob is on my Strat, but whatever works for you man...

I'd like to move that volume knob a step down as well, and perhaps make the remaining tone control a master tone control. Wiring shouldn't be too difficult.

I do a lot of volume swells, anchor my pinky to the PG near the volume knob and have never moved it on accident.

lol it's funny to read these comments :)

I learned how to play in a strat, so I got used to the volume knob in that location

I personally love the position of the volume knob, but whatever makes you happy. It has been done a time or two ;).

No. The placement of the volume knob is perfect.
