Now the frets are leveled, crown, etc.

I needed to flatten the fretboard before leveling, and yes the truss rod works !

Next : the nut. I have absolutely no idea if I will manage to do an acceptable one.

The truss rod works, but I think I will put 9s and maybe even tune to Eb, as obviously it is a soft wood.

Wow, you are tackling everything. I would not be surprised if you wind your own pickups. ;)

The nut is cut to dimensions, not so bad for a first attempt. It is not a tight fit but a drop of glue will do the trick.

Probably that guy who makes the clay mockups of a new car body they use to create the molds to stamp the sheet metal with.

I'm very impressed! Would love to find the time to do that, but even if I did I'm lot sure I'd attempt building a neck. Well done in any case.
BTW my first Strat is an Italian knock off called Melody Vintage. The body is MDF. Your shoulders might hate you for that!

It is surprising how many developers and IT folks are here. I guess guitars take us away from all the freakin' dependacies in code.

I worked on the body finish : sanded a bit to break the orange peel, then buffed by hand with car polish.
I did not spend much time sanding before painting so the back is still rought because I used my router to decrease the thickness. The front is better, it is the flat side of the MDF board.
Anyway I did not want to spend too much time sanding :)
It's a bit shiny so it's fine for me. It's still "only" a mockup.
For the real build I will use tru oil.

I also sanded the neck a bit to get rid of the orange peel. I will apply the same technique of polishing as for the body.
Then I will have to remove the lacquer from the frets, and then... assembly !!

    What did I do ??
    I built a guitar !!
    Still cannot believe it.

I have to set it up and see how the neck behaves in few time.
    I mounted Ernie Ball 8s.

The pickups sound glassy, a lot of highs, but well, for a €10 chinese loaded guard...

It does play nicely, but the neck is wide. 44 mm at the nut ( I sold my templates and bought a better set with 42.8 at the nut ;) ).
It does not seem too heavy after all, I will weight it maybe.
