    *Fender MIM player body
    *Mint green fender pickguard

*Gibson 490t hum - it’s a bit too big for the pickguard - any suggestions there??

*I’ve got some player series single coils to fill in but I was going to go with dylantalkstone pickups eventually

Can’t decide on knobs - thinking I might go for some chrome ones

this is what I’m going to put a v profile neck on

For the pickguard hole i would scrape of even layers with a brand new sharp snap-off knives. And sand away and level off any bumps once it fits. It seems that there is very little you need to get off for it to fit.

Either that or clamp a straight level / ruler and cut off required material with sharp knife or simply sand it down until you hit the levelbeam. Then round the corners round and smooth again with a file. A vise would be good for this method

Seems like it's cut for humbuckers without cover.

For sure go with the cream knobs / pickup covers.

please, please don’t do chrome knobs. Just don’t.

    That's a beautiful MIM body.

I was toying with the idea bc my dad suggested it, but I personally have never loved them.
I was leaning toward the cream but I wasn’t loving the match with the mint green. It will probably be better when I get the pickguard covers on.

I really like parchment on parchment or parchment pickguard and cream plastic on 2 tone strats

Another thing you can try for the pickguard bridge hole is a Beautician's Emory Board. Tweezerman makes a pretty nice 3-pack. You can find them in the Nail Isle, at most Pharmacies. Use the rough side till the HB fits, then smooth it with the fine side.

Chrome knobs? I love my Schallers. They are held on with a set screw. Therefore they work best with solid shaft pots. If you use split shaft pots you can use these brass sleeves.

Update on progress, got everything wired up; just need a neck - that neck needs a truss rod replacement

Looking good! The match between knobs and pickup covers really helps, especially with a chrome HB in there. I'd second an earlier comment about parchment or another off-white being really nice with two-tone bursts, maybe nicer than mint green. But either way this looks terrific!

I would have gone with Black pup covers and black knobs, I like contrasting the hardware to the pickguard.. Pale on pale always seems a little of to me if the color don`t match perfectly ...

But hey, nice work !!! It`s beautiful !

I’ve got an issue where the hum doesn’t quite fit in the cavity; I didn’t wanna drill the cavity if I didn’t have to. Any other suggestions?
