Yeah, I'm with you, I think Squier high end stuff of the last 10 years or so better than most MIM to be honest, not your model but the lower end Mexico ones.....but when I try to sell, nobody wants to pay more than $100, even if it's $400 new, because 'it's just a Squier' lol

Yea. That’s the Squier effect, for sure! I’ll say though, the new MIM Player series is very nice.

Thats only happened to me once before. I was going to trade my Gibson SG special for a nice Epiphone LP goldtop. I had to drive an hour to meet the guy. He was an old Winter Texan. Held up my SG and said "nah, its too light." And went on to explain that light guitars are of inferior quality. I was speechless. Does a heavy SG even exist? Two hours of driving for nothing.

Sellers can be total flakes, too. MANY people can be flakes.

Eh...a bit of that. I’m also just finicky . Do want a thinner neck though and this guitar is a nice trading chip.

Life lesson the hard way. To me, when dealing on Craigs, strike when the iron's hot. If a buyer wants it let it go. Buyers are fickle at times. I only hold guitars if a serious buyer is traveling a long distance and it's only that day till they get there. Your buyer was an idiot but you didn't know till he got there. It's never sold until the dough is in your hand. Sorry that deal fell through but there's always more out there.

I get very frustrated when I list something for sale, and it always says " Sorry no holds, pickup ******". (My location) and I get people asking " where are you?". I happens virtually every time.

I had a Glarry Strat that I was selling on Craigslist. Guy calls up and offers me 20 bux. I laughed and told him the lowest I would take was 55. He says “but aren’t they 55 dollars new?” I told him if that was the case to go buy a new one...click. Wound up giving it to the 12 year old boy across the street.

I’ve done this before when it says no trades. Difference being that my offers have been very high quality, high dollar guitars. I’ve always gotten a very nice and cordial response back. Several have responded that they already have a guitar very similar, or they would have genuinely been interested. I figure that it never hurts to ask if you are making a very fair offer.

I believe in truth in advertising.
You just found out what happens when someone ( buyer or seller ) commits the ASSUME.
    Get what I mean?

If your Ad was clear and stated “MIM”—and “Mexico”—the guy was an idiot, but I’m guessing your post didn’t give enough info to the uninformed buyer.
Just give them all the pertinent info including serial number and this stuff will rarely happen.
Learn your lesson about clear communication and move on.

The Classic 70s Series is MiM, and was right in the title of the ad.

Buyer may not have been aware of the series and assumed that the ad title was a description... as in I have a "Classic 90s G&L S-500"... simply meaning that it was made in the 90s.

I dunno Dude. I didn’t get to read your ad...
But I think the more info you pack into the description the less likely you are to get dumb questions.
You’ll still get em. But it’s a a numbers game.
Posters here probably know that Fender wasn’t making MiM guitars in the 1970’s, but a lot of very smart normal people don’t know that.
