Hope you're all buttoned up and if necessary on the way to higher ground. Looks to be a bad storm. Be careful folks!

    Thanks @Uncle Jimmy!!!
Looks like it’s gonna pass West of me. Don’t matter what I wish for ... somebody is gonna get WET!

    West is the Best
    East is the Beast

So I’ll be East of the storm so it all depends on how far West it is. Not looking good for people is East Tx. either. But it’s not our first Rodeo ... I’ve been in dozens of Hurricanes and still here. This shouldn’t be any different.

Here in MS we're getting rain bands and thunderstorms from Marco now; according to tracking Laura will pass way west of us.

I hate all of them....never the same twice, and when they are close it seems like the end of time has come. I am glad to y'all are in the right place to be safe. I always feel for the families who aren't though.

Or another Harvey for that matter...
Remember Harvey. I hope this doesn't do anything close to that.
Right? As if we needed any more of an s-show of a year...

    Stay safe everyone.

You're so right, can't forget Harvey or Camille and Andrew all deadly and wreaked major havoc.

    I'm so glad I'm not down there any more . . .

but I wish you all the safest possible outcomes and may God bless you and yours.

I went through about 16 hours of hell winds in Harvey, then 9 days with no power. It was something else!

Then my ceiling fell in a couple times after that . . .

Jeez I'm glad I sold my Florida house a couple years ago. Less income, but a weight (and taxes) is off my shoulder. Stay safe everyone!

I hear you there; MS Power and Bellsouth finally got to our neck of the woods 11 days after Katrina devastated our little town. The red cross had set up at our church and as fast as the food in our freezer thawed on the grill or our Coleman camp stove it went then to the church. With no power or generator we only keep enough food for a meal; we gave away a lot of prime fresh meat. We did still have city water and those short cold spit showers with no a/c in August felt really good but they got old quick.
We got rid of the freezer and only stock up on can goods and bottled water now just in case; we also have a couple of portable generators and thankfully they only get run periodically just to keep them up.

A question for the gulf coast people...is there much of a tourist season this summer?

    1. it would suck if a stalled season was going to get hammered by storms, but...

2.if there isn't a, or much of a, season...at least there are fewer people at risk.

I've got good friends in Morgan City, LA and in Edna, Tx.

    Victoria got big! LOL!

All my fam has evacuated or is evacuating today. I hope it's not as bad as they say its gonna be. Not sure if my parents can go through having to basically rebuild again. They're older now and dad cant move as quick as he used to. But, I'm sure the wife and I and my brothers will be down there come saturday or so tearing out sheetrock and cutting up limbs. Life on the gulf i guess.
