Anyone knows where can I find picks made of Forbon?

I have one that came with Lollar Gold Foil pickup. Lollar has stopped producing picks unfortunately. :(

Forbon makes vulcanized flatwork which is used to make pickup bobbin. Lollar used to make picks out of it in-house with Lollar logo to hand out at guitar shows.

No one else makes those unfortunately.

Thank you Joel. That's true. Surprisingly, those picks are wonderful. I love the mellow tone they produce. Way better than plastic, nylon and other materials.

Would felt picks do the same?

You could buy the sheet material and make your own plectrums. It's not easy to find in small quantities or cheaply though.

He'd have to buy some tool to press the vulcanized fiber down to below 1,0 mm.

Hmmm. It seems like it should be possible to acheive the same tone with a similar material... Lemme think.

That's the major problem, finding somebody willing to sell a small piece, it's about €15 for a 300mm x 300mm sheet. I just make plectrums out of things I find laying about. :) Softish plastic about 2mm thick makes for mellow sounding picks, they wear out rapidly though. :)

Good morning Omar. I can see some picks with the brand name Lollar, are these likely to be the brand that you are looking for? They are made from Forbon, which they say is a trade name for vulcanised fibreboard.

I have felt uke picks, they're about 5mm thick and just about survive the nylon strings.

    Do they ship to Spain?
I have bought several picks. For the faltwound strings I have, the forbon sounds better. I used it for the recent PMW.
Hi Alan :) yes Lollar, but they don’t produce more. They ship plastic picks with their pickups.

Ok, I understand but will have a look here in Ireland. Is there a specific size of hardness that you’re looking for?

I would assume they do. Write and ask, also ask how stiff the plates are. They were cheap though, 1 euro.
