A reliable formula to sell records - anything to make Mom & Dad nervous or outraged.

Ah yes, the Parental Advisory labels. Strange times indeed.

Now we have WAP. Super. SarcasticClapL.gif

Somehow Parental Advisory labels do NOT have the same effect like they did back in the day.

I used to listen to it on the radio, but we didn't have cable, so I didn't have MTV until the mid 90s.
Never really cared for the over the top bands like Twisted Sister, but I really enjoyed Ratt, Ozzy, Scorpions, JP, Dio, Crue, Van Halen... but other than Ratt, I think the only CDs that I actually bought that would be considered "Hair Metal" was Stryper.

Got cable maybe three months after MTVs launch. Was something to behold.

I know many liked 80s Rock. I was simply not one of them. I was still stuck in the 60s / 70s music-wise.

Until the mid-90's??? Wow...MuchMusic...an MTV equivalent was made free on Cable TV back in 1988...the same time I got my first electric guitar. I sure learned a lot of guitar tricks from watching TV back then...but as you know it is amazing with YouTube that now you can learn everything! But before MuchMusic I used to watch WUTV Buffalo, NY TV Station where they had a half-hour music video show where I would catch up to the latest music video trends of the day.

Oh, I made my a-hole stepfather mad as hell with my choice of music, then guitar played loudly in the mid 70s.

    So there.

That label is something Glenn Frikker would have on a T-shirt

Sounds like a battery shaver put through a 5w amp and 3" speaker.

    Same era as =\//-/=

Lot of copycats that ruined it, like Poison, Warrant, etc..but there were some damn fine guitarists in that era as well.
