My brother picked with this cool classic vibe 60’s squier Strat. I did a pretty basic setup and noticed the belly cut and forearm contours really deep. The forearm cut on this one is not as stubby as my Fullerton 57 but man this is as close to the Fullerton curves I’ve seen on any Strat these days.

It doesn't look like anyone else cares but I think that's interesting. Surprising too. My only CV is a Tele, I have enough Strats so even I couldn't justify buying a CV though I have been tempted because my Tele is so good.

I can't believe that's a a one-off, so could it be that the curves on all CV Strats are what so many people call "wrong" & yet nobody else has noticed till you did?

Very interesting despite my usual lack of interest in such things. Hope some more info comes along.

I spent some time searching around and I couldn't find any other reference to this. However, I did see a few examples with a similar cut. Most CV 60's looked to have a typical cut.

    What year is it?

Is it Made In China or Indonesia? I had a MIC CV that was sleek but not like that.

Hey yeah I don’t think a lot of people really notice or care about body contours. A strats a Strat. Not that it makes or breaks a deal for me but I didn’t really notice either until getting the 57 Fullerton body. The contours are really exaggerated compared to any other Strat out there especially on this squier. They neck even looks quarter sawn.

I’m not sure what year this one is. Here’s a few more pics

They could slap a Fender badge on those CVs & people would quite happily buy them. Much nicer than a Mexican Standard, IMHO. The best Squiers since the 1982 JVs?

It's 2014 going by the serial number. Mine's the same year and I think has the same contours; I'll try and get some photos tomorrow.

Yeah my brother picked it up used for $375CAD and wanted me to set it up. All I did was file the fret ends, oil the fretboard and change strings. Truss rod tweak, action and intonation. Completely stock it actually sounds really good.

Is it silver or kind of a bronze color? Hard to tell from the pics.

Yeah I’m not really sure on the colour. It’s more like a shoreline gold but just a little darker.

Yep, I thought so; Gold Bronze. That color was done on Strats and Teles as an exclusive for Long & Mcquade stores in Canada.

IMO it looks like Somethingorother Bronze, maybe Antique Bronze. It was a metallic CV color available in short runs for UK, EU, Canada, etc.

Other than a CS Strat I bought, the only new Strat I've had in my hand in the the last 5 years that was stone-cold incredible was a Squier Classic Vibe. And I didn't buy it. I still kick myself.

I don't know what they are supposed to look like, but the contours have to look and feel like what I imagine a strat to be, which ends up being my 08 CV60. Nice soft rounded edges, and the top edge has to be all contoured softly. If they don't feel as good, I lose interest pretty quick. I'll catch some flack, but the CV60 is what I compare all other strats to.
