Found the beat looking Affinity strat on the wall and noticed a few things about it. Throw away the neck and the body and I still have nearly $400 worth of parts.

Good example of how (most) GC employees know nothing about what they are selling.

Great deal. I love hearing about historic bargains people have gotten on guitars.

I'm not exactly seeing what you're seeing (I guess) to get anywhere close to $500 minus the body and neck..... but yeah, there's still plenty of meat on those bones for sure.

I think the locking tuners plus Seymour Duncan Hot Rails are worth quite some dough

plus upgraded saddles, probably the output jack cup, even the black screws on the pickguard. Plus there may even be nice electronics (pots, cap, switch) under the pg. Who knows what the trem block is. Seems as though somebody spend a lot of money to put lipstick on a pig. If they're selling it for a buck fiddy, what did they give the seller? Somebody must have been desperate.

I know they are worth more than the guitar's price.... but new the pickups are ~$270, and the tuners are ~$75.

That is a score 100%. Good on ya. I might need to visit GC more. A good employee should of caught that.

Oh it's a nice score no doubt. GC can be great to spend a little time perusing their used racks for that exact reason (if for no other).

Throw the neck and body in a box and send it this way!!!! That will make a great Department coin caster for 2022.:p

Great Find @Lonn. You seem to have a real knack for that kind of thing. Makes me so Jelly!!!!!

SD Rails, Black Sperzels, Black jack boat, graphtech string trees and saddles. I would bet that the pots and switch have been upgraded too because it looks like the shaft on the switch looks bigger than the normal imports. Purple pearl pickguard.

    Just wow!!!

The SD Everything Axe Set is a little less expensive than I thought. I thought it was available on a loaded pick guard for about 350. The Sperzels are $100 and probably 50 for the saddles. Either way I’m pretty happy with it. It’s on police hold for another five days. I figure I’ll give it a quick rattle can finish, put a new guard on it and give it a good set up and be good to go. I’ll probably have to rewire it too as the tone controls work in reverse direction. Sales guy told me they paid $50 for it.

Could be. Based on the fact that it's an Affinity, my guess is either:
    1. a young adult liquidating an abandoned hobby for drinking money, or
    2. parents cleaning out their kid's room after he moved out.
My money is on #2. My grandparents didn't sell; instead, they relegated my uncle's forgotten strat copy to the attic, where I discovered it a dozen years later.
