blackstar are the saviour of low volume home playing imo I've just bought a second ht1r after foolishly letting my first go when i bought a studio 10 artisan which is a fantastic amp but through headphones the ht1 smashes it out the park and for those tiny toy amps i hear the fly is the only one that actually sounds pretty good
Pretty decent little tool for the money. I already have a mini Katana that is very comparative to the Blackstar. What has really knocked my socks off is the Vox Mini 5 Rythym I got recently. Has amp models, effects, drum machine with different beats and tap tempo, mic input, aux in, headphone out, switchable between .1w, 1.5w, and 5w. Runs on 6 AA or included 10volt ac adapter. Got mine for a steal at $89.00. They usually go for $150 - $190 on Reverb, but better deals can be found. Wish stuff like these little amps existed back in the 80's, but the Pignose amps were kinda cool. You could get closed back or open back sounds! LOL
I also have the Vox Mini 5 Rythym.. bought it used for $60 at GC. Figured they have a 30 return policy so if I didn't like it I wasn't out anything, but its a great little amp. I use it at home all the time and am really impressed by it.
Well, you nudged me right into one. Also got the Vintage model like yours, but with the extension cab and AC adapter. Ordered it yesterday morning from Sweetwater and it arrived today. Actually really does sound good. I'm impressed. Hard to imagine that kind of sound can come out of something that small and light.
Love those little amps! I travel for a living (Back when we had those) and have an Affinity Strat in a gig bag and a Fly3. Perfect rig to travel with. And around 200 bux total! Distortion leaves a little bit to be desired though.
I actually think the gain channel is better than some of my bigger amps, Vox pathfinder in particular, it's just that one must be fair considering the speaker size, but through headphones or the line out i find it really good. I think the trick is to set the volume low and use the gain knob in this case. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
