I could have the opportunity to buy for a fair price a Don Felder Vos 59 Les Paul (called Hotel California ahahah). Few guitars (I remember 100, but maybe 150... not sure), nice tops, wood selections etc.
    BUT I'd like your opinion:
In your experience are these commemorative or tribute Les Pauls really good guitars? The Don Felder, as well as the Clapton '60 Les Paul, the '54 Jeff Beck, the 59 Bonamassa Skinnerburst, the 58 Mark Knopfler, the 59 Jimmy Page, the 74 Randy Rhoads etc.

I don't want to consider them as good investments. I just ask about the quality and the historical accuracy. Sometimes they have the same pickups a "normal" 59 custom shop (or 58 etc) has. Perhaps the same neck. The same woods? Don't know.

Would it maybe the same to buy a nice and new 59 Les Paul 60th anniversary?

The 59 is considered the “holy grail” of LP’s. I would probably not consider the signature series, but rather go for a reissue, IMHO.

I had a Gibbons model. If the top can’t be matched to the original they are all just basically R9 guitars. Just my opinion.

    Hi, @Trickster019

I would go for a regular R8 or R4 Model if I had that level $.

But... is the right top enough to be satisfied about an expensive tribute that should be a very good replica?
I mean... you get a matched top and that's all for you?
    It's just a question, I'm curious.

#15 Greg Martin is amazing....only one I am familiar with...way out of my pay scale.

You can get a 'canadian' 59 built to your specs for that money....
