To answer the questions - yes, black scratchplate will be made as soon as the material arrives. It plays great, no change from the original other than an improvement in action, and it sounds just like a Tele with noiseless pickups, i.e. a slightly more "polite" Tele. No doubt if I fitted a set of Texas Specials it would sound more "angry".

Ergonomically it's great, and from my perspective it's much more flexible than the single P90 (I've always had a thing about Teles anyway). I need to play for a while, but this may get promoted to No.2 behind the .strandberg*

    Said the Bishop...

    Not likely! said the Actress...

Given I had to do it with a Forstner bit in a drill stand, it's not the most elegant bit of routing you'll ever see, but it has a flat bottom of even depth. I could take a chisel and tidy it up so it looks nice, but that would only be to show off, and nobody wants to see my underwear...

I didn't think it would be pretty, given where you were starting from. :)

Yes, I think it's at least as good as the original Gibson...

A quick update for anyone who's interested. I received the black pickguard material the other day, and today got round to making a new guard. I decided to mount the bridge pickup in the guard and see how it went (I can always cut it and fit the Tele plate again later). I think it looks more "original" and guess what? Still sounds like a Tele...

If it sounds the same either way, aesthetically, I vote for the Tele plate to highlight the unique nature of this build. Very cool!

Can I place my order now for your next one? ;)

I'm not sure I could make 'em economically, but thanks for the offer!
