If that's how you normally play, then yes. Otherwise, it's useless. If you're going to compare 2 guitars, you compare them playing whatever it is you usually play, not tones you'll never hear outside of the comparison.

This comparison was meant for us, not for the OP.

    No effects ?
    I call BS on that.
I hear quite a barrage of effects.

Also, the LP appears to be a Deluxe with mini-humbuckers.
Therefore, not representative of the majority of "Gibsons".

With all the effects you have going on, a $100 Chinese guitar will sound about the same as a $500,000 1959 Les Paul Burst.

I have a Les Paul and a Strat. Both are great guitars. Get both!

    Strats quack and LP's honk.

At some point someone decided that was darn good reason for unending feud and contention.

Typical YouTube video - the player is more interested in showing us what a virtuoso he is, and how much distortion his amp can chuck out, than telling us anything about the sound of the guitars.

I have an upcoming video where I take several different guitars, put them all through identical distortions, and challenge the listener to identify which is which. Should be fun! Watch this space.

    Here's the truth:

In a live band setting it doesn't matter which one you play. You'll have whatever effects going and hopefully you'll EQ to fit in the mix and not be obnoxious.

For a bedroom virtuoso, it doesn't matter. All that matters is what you like to hear when you play.

So either way, it doesn't matter. :thumb:

I agree with marksound . If you compared them both dry the results would be different . When I was gigging , I'd set up my amp and effects to basically get "my" sound , no matter which guitar I was playing .
