So I'm taking my wife to look at this awesome Bedell Acoustic tomorrow night. It's part of a limited run of 4 different models (2 Dreads a parlor and an OM) and for each model they only make 8 guitars. Of the 21 dealers Bedell has 8 were selected to offer them. My local "mom and pop" store was one of them. They have this one that came out 4/1 and the other dread that dropped earlier this year. These are pics of the actual guitar. I strummed it for a second Tuesday night and it was insanely awesome sounding and feeling. Not sure I can convince the wife that I should get it with all the gear I've bought already in 2019 but this thing is the dread of my dreams. I played a Martin Authentic 1939 D 28 and a Authentic 1941 D 18 right before I picked this one up and as great as those Martins were (and I'm a huge Martin fan) the Bedell was just in a whole other league.

Specs are - Brazilian RW back and sides. Adirondack Spruce Top, Honduran Mahogany neck, Ebony board, bridge and binding and tortoise shell tuner buttons, bridge pins and end pin.

Yeah it is quite nice. The other dread model they have is quite a looker too but I really like this one and it's the less expensive of the two.

My question is which way to hang it? That back is too gorgeous to face the wall. Extend a hanger out further and put mirrors behind it.

Well we had horrible storms and tornadoes around so we did not go tonight. May look tomorrow but also don’t think I need to spend $8,000 on a guitar right now, especially after having to pay a large tax bill this past Monday. May hold off and if it’s still there in a couple months maybe it was meant to be.

You have new-ish, high-quality stuff. What about something lowbrow-vintage-but-awesome like a Harmony Sovereign or a Baxendale conversion?

I don’t really like true vintage stuff as most all of it I have tried has had some issue or quirks that needed addressing or I would have to live with. I prefer vintage specd new gear with a warranty. I had a chance to buy a 1956 Martin 00 15 for $2,100 but since it has no truss rod and would at some point likely need a neck reset I got a new OM 21 instead. I actually have not bought a used guitar or amp since 2015. I much prefer to be the first owner.
