proton pump inhibitor? (Prilosec, Prevacid, or other..?) I presume it's that, so they're assuming it's a stomach acid problem? Push for more answers. That's the easy one. Not that I hope it's not the right one, but IME you never take the first answer. Trust, but verify.

I had something somewhat similar. Not the pain but, sensations in my chest. I got a stress test and an upper gi endoscopy and colonoscopy.

    Stress test was fine. Whew!

Turns out I have a hiatal hernia. Where part of the stomach protrudes past the diaphram. Its can be unnerving for sure. I hope you get sorted out soon. Waiting for test results sux.

Take care and give us updates.

LOLOL.....LMAO, that is so freakin' accurate too.

We're men. We're logical and we're fixers. We often forget our partners don't want anything fixed because if it was fixed they'd have to stop complaining about it and find something else wrong to get our attention which is all they really want anyway.

It is so difficult to get proper treatment in todays world.

It sounds like they need to examine you carefully. As others have said, Advocate for yourself.

this is why i will not go to a doctor unless im literally dying or in so much pain i cant stand it.

I have the same thing....costochondritis.....been to ER's at FIVE different hospitals over the last 20 years, no one could figure out my chest pains that recur every few years. Finally got a new doctor a few years ago, he's older than I am (almost 70) and he's the only one who ever could figure it out. Feels like a heart attack but just irritated ribs. But don't ASSUME its nothing, the results of being wrong could be severe. Don't put off too long getting scans or whatever. And remember..we're not real doctors here!

I’ve never come across others that have had it.

I was lucky in that they diagnosed it within 6 hours or so, after ruling out other things (EKG, bloodwork looking for enzymes consistent with a heart attack, etc).

I agree with you that you can’t assume it isn’t serious. In my case, the first time it happened was enough to get my heart racing with panic, which makes you even more convinced that it is of cardiac origin. And my cholesterol has ranged from 250-300 for 25 years, so there’s that in the back of your mind. The symptoms can be quite similar such that the doctors won’t diagnose it without ruling all else out.

So the key is to get the full work up and press for answers (and this is coming from someone who has developed a fear of hospitals).

    Wow that sounds horrid.

Because of shoulder issues I use this system they also have one for acid reflux.

I am on my second set after using them for about 5 years.

I'm still alive this will be first night taking new meds its protonix and Maalox advanced max st. I just took a valium so I will be knocked out in about 35 minutes. My pain starts around 6 am so hopefully I will have less pain. I think I have a hiatal hernia but who knows. My tests were all done today but I sat on hold for 45 minutes trying to find out results and just gave up. Hopefully I can find out more tomorrow. I had heart surgery 5 months ago so they don't think my heart is bad. Thanks for the support and we'll wishes. Oh I think I turned pm on but not sure I did it right.

Try and get some rest. Sometimes anxiety can really get the best of you, and make things worse than they need to be. Do your best (it's not easy) to stay relaxed, and realize that you will be ok. Maybe not trouble free, but you'll be ok.

Well I'm still alive despite feeling like someone's beating my chest with a bat for 8 hours a day. I had some surgery today they stuck a scope down my throat took some biopsies and installed a clip. And they said they stretched my throat out. Then surgeon said double protonix to 80 mg. I only slept 2 hours last night so I'm very tired. But hopefully this gets figured out soon. Hope all you guys are doing ok.

Thanks for the update, and hope they get to the bottom of whatever you're dealing with soon!

Hang in there. The good news is that they didn't find something major. Hang in there; you'll get it sorted. We're all cheering for you.
