Subjective of course
Shall I continue?
Sure. Some interesting production in addition to the other factors.
this thread could get very long very fast
Lots of great stuff out there if you look for it. Here's three new(ish) artists I've been really digging lately.
If you have a soft spot for 90s rock and don't know Wolf Alice yet, you're missing out. They've got nice range, not too slavishly sticking to a genre. And they can actually play live.
Thanks for reminding me too look up Hozier playing guitar live because I wasn't honestly sure if that was his playing on the recording. Great song, great writer.
And again First Aid Kit, because they are awesome!
And of course, Thundermother
A newer band I've been hearing from lately. Check out the killer harmonies.
One of my favorite artists. Signed to Warner in 2011, he's 35.
Wow, those are great, I need to check them out more.
I'm a sucker for harmonies like that, hence all the First Aid Kit videos
I've listened to him a bit lately, I really like his version of Catfish Blues
Also Michael Kiwanuka
And over in the world of country:
Sarah Shook is an outlaw country artist, I think she's frickin' fantastic. The whole album (Sidelong) is one of very few country albums I found so compelling that I have wanted to the whole thing more than once. The last time that happened it was Johnny Cash.
And Brandi Carlile.
My favorite band of this millennium is The Killers, though they’ve been around over 15 years now and only the lead singer is still under 40. Please excuse the Gibson Explorer...
Those were great, thanks! Shakey Graves is another artist I've been listening to lately.
another great Rival Sons Track,
my 10-year-old daughter loves these guys, i'd never heard of them, and this is one of the best tracks I've heard in a while. great gospel vibe and message.
My favorite newish bands...
