You may remember that I didn't like my reverb pedal at all, so I flipped it. I've been without one for some time now but found a used one a week ago, just picked it up today. The guy selling it had only tried it once before deciding it didn't go well with metal. I got it in the box with all the candy stuff etc. for less than half the price of a new one.

I've only tried it for a few minutes and it sounds good but not how you'd expect from its name. Surf Rider kind of suggests that it'd be a drippy spring reverb but it's more like a slapback echo with a tail.

It's highly adjustable and goes from very, very subtle to in your face.

HNPD! I'm pretty picky about reverb. My favorite is Fender amp tube driven reverb, but have a couple of pedals that do a fair job, like the MXR reverb and HOF2. Still in search of the ultimate pedal based reverb. Any chance we could hear a clip of yours?

    Thanks!
Thanks! Yep, without the boost engaged it's pretty subtle, with the boost it's less so and the amount is adjustable by an internal trim pot.

The little toggle switch adds a lot of resonance in the top position, does nothing in the middle position and adds resonance in the bottom position, where the amount is adjustable by an internal trim pot.

There's also a jack for an expression pedal that can adjust the depth.

The best knob thisbfar is the tone knob though. It provides a lot of controls over the highs.

Thanks. Yes, as soon as I get ready to do the PMW #11 :D

It's nothing like the Fender amp reverb. I have been looking at some real spring reverb pedals and my two favorites this far are the Crazy Tube Circuits White Whale and the Carl Martin Headroom. Both (especially the White Whale) sound amazing. They are pricey though.

Here it is in a mix, this is from PMW #11. Never mind my playing, it kind of fell to bits. The pedal is there though, on both the lead and backing parts.

I have this pedal and like it well enough, I guess. For some reason I can't get it to sound RJ Ronquillo does:

Thanks for posting those clips. I am *really* digging that Surf Rider. That White Whale is not too shabby either.
