Traveling to Cornell to see our daughter, just into NY state I got pulled over. Guy cited me for 91 which is complete BS. I had been trying to maintain 80 but kept dipping below, no way I was doing 91. Anyway, haven’t looked up the ticket yet as we’re at the hotel headed out for dinner but I’m guessing close to $400. Frak.

That sucks. It’s even worse being out of state, so contesting it isn’t worth it. I’m near DC. They love ticketing out of state here.

Find out if the cop is currently certified on that particular radar gun. If not you might get it dropped. I know somebody that worked for. The cop's certification had run out

    State or local LEO?

Locals love setting up revenue collections zones having nothing to do with safety.

Also... is there a reciprocal agreement between IN and NY?

There are little known regulations like that in most every state. Trouble is coming from Indiana making that work for you in limited time.

Yes. I keep a stash of dead presidents in my trunk lest the need arise.

Jeez $400 is painful. I've had a few in the UK but they're under £100 each.

And you're only a bit over you can have the option of attending Speed Awareness Training instead of taking the points. I've done it 4 times.................

You got a speeding ticket? You get no sympathy from me.
The speed limit is the maximum not the target.

That sucks @Lonn. Hope the rest of your trip is incident free.

Might be like that where you are but definitely not here.

That’s when they say “thanks for the tip, see ya in traffic court!”

    I'm kidding, of course.

    Usually it's two or three.

Last time I got pulled on a BS traffic stop I asked the officer if I could be arrested for thinking. When he said no, I told him what I thought of him.

You know, at first he could only leap tall buildings. It was the Fleischer animation studios that suggested he be able to fly, mostly to save animation costs, plus it would look cooler.

If you've never seen the original Superman cartoons, here is one. Good work. I love the henchmans' sidekick bird.

I’ve gotten out of quite a few tix by doing the opposite. Last ticket I got (years ago) the cop actually apologized for giving it to me.

I’ve only been pulled over by one true jerk in my life, made me go sit in the front seat of his cruiser, and talk to him. I was 19, had never had a drop of alcohol in my life.. think he was trying to see if I was drunk. State trooper, true jackass. Also seemed to fabricate my speed, like Lonn.

took the under-25 year old defensive driving class.. got free donuts and class only cost me like 50 bucks, speeding ticket off the record. Jokes on him.. it was a pretty good time.
